VALUE

The Value of Professional Development Services

Coaching, leadership development, and other professional services are a catalyst for professional development. At Praxis Phronesis, we view development as an interaction that takes place in individuals between the domains of experience, knowledge, and reflection. More often than not, most people rely on experience for the bulk of their professional development. This isn’t necessarily bad, but it is usually incomplete. In addition to what we gain from experience, there is much value to be found in life-long learning whether it be formally in a university or trade school or informally through self-directed learning via books, articles, podcasts, or videos. Lastly, what is usually most lacking in professional development is reflection. Reflection can be accomplished through personal practices such as journaling or professional writing, but it can also come through coaching and development exercises.

In many organizations, people get promoted from technical and producing roles into leadership and management roles because of their ability to generate revenue and help the firm accomplish its mission. This matters. But it isn’t the only thing that matters. Talented employees remain in an organization when they are well led and when they enjoy working with those around them. Moreover, well led teams are more committed to doing their absolute best, even in stressful and fast paced environments. Developing your leaders and managers is good for your people and it is good for your bottom line.

And while leadership matters, it is also important to be a good follower and a good teammate. Poor team dynamics constitute friction that impedes your team’s progress. We want your employees to be committed not just to your organization, but to their teammates and to you. Time spent working on how to be a good follower and a good teammate will help your employees spot problems, develop solutions, and work together to help your organization maximize its potential.

SERVICES

Executive Coaching

t Simply put, coaching is a discussion between a client and a coach. Typically the coach will guide the discussion using questions to help the client think through a leadership or management challenge, but the client ultimately determines what they want to discuss. Coaches and clients can meet in person or by voice/video call depending on what best fits the needs of the client

t Before committing to coaching, the coach will conduct a chemistry call with the client, free of charge, so the client can determine if the coach is a good fit for their needs.

Workshops

t Workshops are appropriate for an organization looking to provide training or facilitated exercises to a group audience. They can range from 1/2 day (4 hours) to a full day (8 hours) in duration for audiences up to 20 people.
